Health Professions Advisory Committee

The Health Professions Advisory Committee (HPAC) is charged with evaluating Richmond students and alumni during their application year to medical, dental, and optometry schools. Full-time faculty members comprise the HPAC. The committee is divided into interviewing teams, each of which includes two HPAC members along with the Director of Pre-Health Education who chairs the committee. In advance of the HPAC interview, each candidate establishes a credential file that contains a curriculum vitae, transcripts of all college work, a completed HPAC questionnaire, and supporting letters of recommendation. These materials, in combination with the interview, serve as the basis for a comprehensive committee letter that will be submitted to the candidate's designated professional schools. HPAC is open to current students as well as alumni who have completed at least 50% of their pre-health science prerequisites at Richmond.
