Pre-Health Studies
Applying to medical school and other health professional programs can be nerve-wracking. Students who want to go into health care choose their undergraduate institution carefully because they know that the right preparation is key to gaining acceptance to professional school.
Increasingly, students interested in the sciences and healthcare are choosing the University of Richmond because of its strong science programs and resources available to pre-health students. The Pre-Health Studies Program provides students with the guidance, support, academic preparation and clinical experiences they need to be successful applicants to health professional schools. In any given year, approximately 300 students, including first years through fourth years from a range of academic disciplines, take advantage of the Pre-health Studies Program.
The program offers a combination of benefits students won’t find anywhere else:
- A Director of Pre-health Education who advises all pre-health students
- High acceptance rates to health profession schools
- A tuition-free, in-house MCAT preparation course
- Health Studies courses that equip students to become better practitioners, not just better health profession students
- Study abroad programs specifically geared toward pre-health students so they can receive an international education without falling behind in their science curriculum
- A program that welcomes all students from all disciplines, not just students majoring in the sciences
